This is one very nice app, and after confirming that there is an intermediate series (with kanji learning material) coming up later, i purchased this app =D Hopefuly we can have the intermediate released later this year or early next year.

Great app and great intro to Japanese. If I used it more diligently I'd probably be a solid beginner by now - as it is I still learned hiragana and a nice set of phrases and easy sentence patterns. Will buy anything else Brak puts out on WP7!

The title of my review almost says it all. This is one of the best-designed apps I've seen on WP7 to date. It's likely going to be the standard I'll be holding myself to as I design my own apps, in terms of usability, discoverability, and visual presentation. Beyond that, however, the actual approach used to teach the language is very clever. The informal tone of the writing helps put the reader at ease. Presenting kana early is one of the keys to learning Japanese successfully, and by lesson three you're learning how it's written, and lessons 4 and 5 you're already learning hiragana. The cultural notes are important, because there's a lot of Japanese culture mixed into the language's usage. While the $9.99 cost is higher than the average cost of a WP7 app, if you're serious about learning Japanese, this is the best ten bucks you'll ever spend. The production values and user interface design are top-notch and easily accessible, and the actual information is accurate and well-delivered.

This app really helps in every aspect of learning Japanese. Its so easy my 3 and 7 year old children are learning with me.

Don't like that this only in landscape mode. Pretty good app with great design.

At first I thought the fact that most of the app was written in html a little clunky, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very polished and pretty comprehensive. If Japanese is not your second language, you'll find the pace a little slow, but I encourage you to take it slow anyway since Japanese is so unique to European language speakers.

Great app. For ten bucks, you can learn a lot. Hell, I learned a lot from the trial.

I can't believe I'm considering learning Japanese. I downloaded this app on a whim and it really took the scare out of the language. Also, the app's UI is very well developed. I wonder if I'm capable of learning C# and Japanese (non-Kanji) simultaneously.

A very easy and enjoyable way to learn Japanese. Definitely try it out. I also have it for PC and bought that for $30. This is a great deal.

A great app for learning to speak and understand this language. Just downloaded the trial and will be picking up the full app ASAP. Well worth the 10 bucks.

It's been quite some time since my semester of Japanese in college. This is a great reintroduction. I highly recommend it!

Never new a different language before but always wanted to learn Japanese(though I was afraid). Just got done with the trail and understand how to read and write it!! If you take the trail you will end up buying it, totally worth the money. The program is so easy to understand I'm not afraid anymore, and well on my way to speaking Japanese. Try the free version and you will know to. And thank you deeply whoever created this program and made it available for the windows 7 phone.

Awesome app!

This is a great app for beginners. I am very much enjoying this seeing how its similar to Rosetta Stone. @ Columnbreak, saying that $10 is too steep a price to pay is laughable when compared to Rosetta Stone's $200 basic and $500 full versions. Honestly I would've paid more for this.

I really enjoyed this app. Especially impressive for a language app on a phone. Worth the price.

I only downloaded the trial version, but it seems pretty comprehensive. Lots of info even in the trial. The price is a little too steep for me to purchase, though.

This app may have a fairly narrow audience, but it is one of the best (and certainly the most beautiful) interactive WP7 apps yet. I spent a little over an hour with it and I can now read 15 Hiragana characters. Amazing! Absolutely worth $10.

Tons of content, and really clear explanations. Great intro to the language.
